The Dunn 2 showing is situated on a ridge nose on the north side of Fewright Creek, a west-flowing tributary into the Unuk River. The location is approximately 64.5 kilometres southwest of Bell 2 Lodge on Highway 37, and 71.5 kilometres northwest of Stewart, B.C.
The Dunn 2 showing area is underlain by Lower Jurassic andesitic rock of the Hazelton Group. A contact with Upper Triassic Stuhini Group consisting of marine sedimentary rock and volcanic rock occurs in the vicinity. Granite of Jurassic to Tertiary age intrudes to the east.
A selected grab sample of a quartz-diorite dike containing pockets of massive sulphides assayed 1.7 grams per tonne gold, 96.0 grams per tonne silver 5.5 per cent copper and 0.13 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 19683). Reported sulphides were chalcopyrite and pyrite.
Colorado Resources reported the Dunn 2 area to be underlain by mainly sandstone and siltstone with lesser intermediate volcanic rocks, locally cut by fine-grained dikes containing disseminated sulphides. The sedimentary rocks are cut by northwest trending, near-vertical sulphide veins with pyrite, plus chalcopyrite where the best grab samples contained 2.21 grams per tonne gold, 42.6 grams per tonne silver and 0.98 per cent copper (sample 1289604) and; 1.9 grams per tonne gold, 26.5 grams per tonne silver and 1.42 per cent copper (sample 1289603) (Assessment Report 36656, page 21).
Work History
In 1989, PBX Resources explored their Dunn 1-4 claims and collected a total of 22 rock, 1 stream silt, and 3 heavy mineral samples.
In 2006 and 2007, Hathor Exploration Ltd. completed a 7228.7 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area as the Few claims of the Iskut project. In 2008, Max Minerals Ltd. examined the property.
In 2016, Colorado Resources Ltd completed a reconnaissance exploration program on their KingPin Property which covered the Dunn 2 and 35 other MINFILE occurrences on the property. Work included the collection of 147 rock chip and grab samples and a total of 129 soil samples (Assessment Report 36656).
